semi colons

what is so bad about having clean air? what if we are all wrong about the climate change crisis, apocalypse, whatever it may be, what would happen then? i would love to pose this question to the skeptics, what would the world look like when we were not fighting over energy? what if we slowly began to realize that the earth is not here to provide solely for us? i have been mulling over my life for the past few months (hence no posts) only to realize i am terrified of so much in this world in it's current state. but enough about me, as anyone read this amazing article about dennis kucinich and his wife?? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/04/AR2007120402333.html if only we lived in a world where the president of the united states of america could talk about meditation. at any rate, i hope this long shot gets the attention he deserves, i mean the man wants a department of peace, and in this day and age, it doesn't get more radical than that.

i really am not a fan of exclamation marks either

but on a more exciting note, has anyone besides me been following the michael pollan/john mackey discussion taking place on the whole foods website? (www.wholefoods.com/blogs/jm/archives/2006/05/an_open_letter.html) if not, anyone that cares about agriculture in the united states and elsewhere should surely take note. for those not directly in the know, michael pollan is a wonderful author who wrote "the omnivores dilemma" (as well as the botany of desire) which chronicles the state of organic farming, monoculture industrial farming, hunting and gathering, and everything in between. (you would not believe how much of what we eat is a corn byproduct) he addresses whole foods in his book and suggests that whole foods might be part of the problem and not the solution. john mackey has obviously not taken well to any such reference and writes pollan an open letter on his website, that pollan responds to. the fact that whole foods engages in this discussion without ego, but instead as a concerned ceo is something i find remarkable. whole foods really has a chance to influence many people and the way they eat. unfortunately, i believe that americans, and perhaps people in other richer countries have lost the concept of seasonal eating. we have been led to believe it is possible to procure anything we want whenever we want it. without sounding to alarmist, one should really inform themselves about what we are putting into our bodies, and encourage those in charge of growing said items to be held accountable for the quality of them.

ps, i thought ellen did a really good job at the oscars from what i saw?

my first post. i think i should make it aware right away the things you can expect from this blog (never thought i would write those words):

1) no capital letters, i don't like them.

i wanted to create a forum for people that don't like capital letters. i suppose they have their place sometimes, but you will rarely find them here.

2) my opinions, surprise, surprise! isn't that what a blog is for.

the thing is. i have lots of things that i think are important, and i would love to share them with whoever wants to read about them. hopefully that is more then my parents, and although there are three of them, it would still be nice if someone unrelated took interest in what i have to say. perhaps that is asking too much, we shall soon see.
